Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMATILDA GUZEJ (TIKLA RIBIC) After a courageous battle with cancer Matilda passed away at the age of 70 years, on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at her residence with her loved ones by her side. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Karl; her son John (Maureen) her three daughters, Karla (Dana), Silvia and Betty; her grandchildren, Tracy, Jamie, Michelle and Marc; great-grandson, Michael and grand-dog Bam-Bam; her two sisters, Micka and Zofka and their families in Slovenia; her two sisters-in-law, Justina and Slavica and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, Antonia and Malija Ribic, also by her three brothers, Ivan and Rudy, and her twin brother, who passed away at birth, and also by her sister Urchka. Matilda was born on February 15, 1933 in Celje, Slovenia. She arrived in Canada on October 9, 1957 with her husband Karl, and their two young children, Silvia and John. Matilda was a highly compassionate and caring person who through the years made many friends in her neighbourhood. In return they showed their compassion and friendship during her illness by their support and concern. One of her favorite pastimes was going to Grand Beach and jumping the waves, as well as summer days spent at the cabin at Sandy Hook. She enjoyed her flower garden and household plants, fishing and shopping, but most of all she loved the times spent with her family. She was employed at the Health Sciences Centre as a housekeeper for 34 years until her early retirement. One of the special occasions of Matildas life was being able to renew her wedding vows with her husband Karl at their 50th Anniversary celebration on March 7, 2003 with her family and friends in attendance. She loved to laugh and she had a great sense of humour. Her favourite saying to her children was "Dont worry, just to be healthy and happy." The family would like to thank Dr. Jeyakumar and nurse Astra, and all of the Oncology department staff at Victoria Hospital, as well as palliative nurses, Kate and Brenda for the care they provided Matilda. Prayers will be said on Monday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 8 at 10:00 a.m. also in the church, with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding at the Eucharist. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. LEATHERDALE GARDINER Funeral Chapel 1858 Portage Avenue 949-4872
