JAMES (ROSS) KELSO May 25, 1932 - July 5, 2003 Ross Kelso, soulmate and loving husband of 54 years to Anne, peacefully left this world on July 5, 2003. Ross was a source of strength and inspiration for Anne and their five daughters as well as a wonderful role model for his ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Ross will be remembered for his tenderness, generosity and wonderfully kind spirit. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be forever loved and never forgotten. These are the gifts he leaves to all who knew him. Ross became a member of the Winnipeg Fire Department in 1957 and during his 35-year career, he showed dedication and service to the citizens of Winnipeg. Ross retired at the rank of Captain in May 1992. Of utmost importance to Ross was the well-being and security of his family. It is this legacy that his family will cherish. Left to mourn are his wife Anne, daughters, Joanne (Art), Colleen (Harry), Diane (Pierre), Sharon (Ashley) and Shirley (Chris) his sister Joan Roberts; his cherished Auntie Madge McConnell and family; his sister-in-law Pearl Everette of Ballymena, Ireland; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Sharkey and Dr. Louridas; the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital and to Palliative Care Manitoba for all of the care and support they gave to Ross during his lengthy illness. Service of Remembrance will take place on Thursday, July 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Viewing will be held Tuesday, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Klassen Chapel, July 8.
