LILLIAN (PAL) DUFFIELD Peacefully on July 7, 2003 at the Grace Hospital. Born Pauline Isabel Kaban June 30, 1911 in Souris, MB to Nicholas and Bronia Kaban, the fifth of seven children. Lillian (Pal) moved to Winnipeg to work for a family in River Heights, then as an operator with the Dermic Institute. She married Frank Duffield in 1939. They had one child Donna in 1943. Franks employment with the CBC took them from Winnipeg, to Watrous, SK, Carman then back to Winnipeg in 1954. Lillian was a nurturer. You were barely in the door before refreshments were served. 114 McLaughlin Ave. hosted many family celebrations, the welcome mat was always out. When she and sister Nellie were both widowed she welcomed Nellie into her home which they shared for 27 years. A devout Catholic, she was a founding member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish of St. James and a member of the CWL. In June 2001 she joined the community at Golden West Centennial Lodge where her sister Nellie had moved in 1998. The staff were friends already as she visited Nellie often. She was warmly welcomed, was well cared for and happy. On the Kaban side Lillian is survived by her sister Lucy Froud (Ken) and daughter Margaret of Montreal; daughter Donna Musgrave (Cal) of Winnipeg, their children, David Musgrave (Jane), children, Catherine and Angus of Calgary; Terry Musgrave (Christine) and son Gregory of Kelowna; Kristine Ward and sons, Bryce, Taylor and Alex of Winnipeg; niece Susan Watters (Keith) their daughter Marlo; niece Janice Watters (George) their children, Krystal, Kristian, Kyle, Rebecca and Sebastian; niece Marlene Heck (Juergen) and son Terry; niece Rosemary Doyle (Jay), children, Travis and Tracy of Streetsville, ON; niece Bronia (Bunny) Barlow (Gary), daughters, Lisa and Andrea of West Vancouver. There are numerous nieces and nephews on the Duffield side as well. Lillian was predeceased by her parents; husband Frank; brothers, Hank, wife Thelma, Mike, wife Mabel and Fred, wife Ruth. Her sister Nellie Petroske, husband Stan also a sister Mary who died in childhood. Prayers will take place Thursday, July 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, July 11, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Ave. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery.
