THOMAS (TOM) JOHN JOSEPH After a brief battle with cancer, Tom passed away at the age of 53 years at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, July 8, 2003. He is survived by his two children, Danielle and Brian and by his very special partner, Sofia Szewc. Tom will be sadly missed by his mother and father, Mary and Clifford of Victoria Beach; sisters, Diana (Don) Chapel, Marcia (Sonny) Sleeman, Debbie (Anthony) Cranen, Colleen (Don) Borlase, Verna (Tony) Vincent and brother Clifford Joseph Jr., along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Brian, Ray and Bradley. Tom loved his children deeply. He will be remembered by his family and many friends, as a kind, gentle and generous man who had respect for everyone. Tom had a great passion for hunting, fishing and camping at Sand River with his father and friends. He was employed with Burns for many years, as well as with AMSCO and most recently with Winpak. Cremation has taken place and prayers will be said on Friday, July 11 at 8:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Michaels Church, Victoria Beach, MB. Interment to follow in the Victoria Beach Community Cemetery. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Sofia for the special care she gave to Tom during his hospital stay. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Toms nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, RM 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to Ducks Unlimited Canada, P.O. Box 1160 Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0.
