SOFIE WETZL (nee BENZ) Sofie passed peacefully away on July 7, 2003 in the afternoon at the Luther Home. Sofie was born in Croatia on December 1, 1907, the youngest of 10 children. As a young girl she went to Belgrade, Serbia where she later met and married her husband Andrew. Sofie, Andrew and their daughter Vera came to Winnipeg, Canada in 1948. She was a hardworking woman, who loved to cook, bake, and look after her garden. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Andrew and her siblings. Sofie is survived by her daughter Vera Delfing (Hugo) three granddaughters, Ursula, Ingrid (Terry) and Benita (Bohdan) five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Marissa, Tamara, Kellen and Garrett. The family would like to thank the staff of the Luther Home for the wonderful care given to Sofie over the last 18 years. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in Old Kildonan Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
