THERESE LEONA DOLYNY (nee PARENT) "Everyone has a Guardian Angel" Peacefully, on July 6, 2003, at the age of 79 years, Therese Dolyny passed away at the Tudor Personal Care Home in Selkirk, MB. Therese was born in Dunrea, MB, on October 22, 1923. Her family moved to Gravelburg, SK, where she attended school. In 1938 she moved back to Manitoba with her parents. After graduating school, Therese was employed as a teacher in the Interlake division, eventually going to work in Teulon where her family owned a small store. It was in Teulon that she met and married Alex Dolyny and they raised their son Gerry. She resided in Teulon until the fall of 2000 when she moved to Selkirk to be under the care of the wonderful staff at Tudor House. Therese took pride in everything she did, and everything she did was done well. She was an avid gardener who was gifted with a green thumb. She enjoyed being surrounded by her beautiful flower gardens in the summer, and she loved to watch the birds that made her gardens their home. She made a point of studying "her" birds and learning about each species. When she was forced to stay indoors, she loved to read books, play cards and to work on her paper toll projects. She was also a wonderful cook and was always eager to make her family a lavish meal. She is particularly famous for the many crepe pancake breakfasts she served her grandchildren. Most of all, her family will tell you that she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister - she will be missed. Therese was predeceased by her son and only child Gerry Dolyny in April of this year; her husband Alex Dolyny in January of 2002; and brother Aurthur Parent in 1994. She will be greatly missed by her grandson Jeff Dolyny; her granddaughter Sally Guarino; her siblings, Alice Smythe of Winnipeg, Bert Parent of Estevan, Vivian Desaulniers of Winnipeg, Charlie (Maurice) Parent of Morris, Lorraine Benisz of Vancouver, Denise McKenzie of Westmount and Richard Parent of Moose Jaw. She has also left to mourn many other extended family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Teulon on Saturday, July 19 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully accept donations to the Manitoba Alzheimers Society. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
