Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER ALINE CATELLIER (GABRIELLE SIMONE) Fille de la Croix Very peacefully on the morning of July 9, 2003, Sister Aline Catellier passed into eternity at Foyer Valade where she had been a resident for over eight and one-half years. She was born in St. Malo, MB, on February 26, 1932, the youngest of a family of 10. Her father, Alderic, born in St. Gervais, QC, and her mother, Eugenie Carriere, born in Otterburn, MB, have both predeceased her; as well as sisters, Raymonde McIvor, Simone Maynard and Gervaise Horky; brothers, Eugene, Aurile and Germain; brothers-in-law, Clifford McIvor, Joe Maynard, Rudy Horky and Adonai Marion; sisters-in-law, Rose Dore and Imelda Morin. She is lovingly remembered by her community - Les Filles de la Croix; and her sisters, Armande, Renee (Philippe Marion), Yvette (Pierre Dedieu) brother Etienne; sister-in-law Therese Fredette; many nieces and nephews. Sister Aline went to school in Arnaud, St. Malo and St. Adolphe, MB. Being a student of the Filles de la Croix, she decided to enter the convent in 1951. She made her noviciate and vows in St. Boniface, and for several years she served in various convents in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. In September of 1960, she decided to join the nursing profession and entered the Misericordia Nursing School. Very soon, alarming symptoms obliged her to leave her studies and to begin a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was determined to fight and in spite of the gradual loss of her strength, she devoted her time to visiting the sick in various hospitals for as long as she could walk. At the same time she joined the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Manitoba, learning all she could about the disease and making new friends with whom she corresponded and co-related. In 1993, she was admitted at the King George Municipal Hospital in Winnipeg and remained there for 17 months before moving to the Foyer Valade. There she continued her loving mission by telephone and writing letters, keeping in close touch with family and friends. She was happy in Valade and enjoyed having visitors and also coming home to the convent every Sunday for a few hours. She had nothing but praise and thanksgiving for all her caregivers. We, her sisters in Christ, will never forget her warm and welcoming smile, her endurance and patience without complaint, her thoughtfulness of others, her serene and peaceful acceptance of her illness. The Filles de la Croix are very grateful to all the staff of nurses, volunteers and caregivers who have been so kind to our dear Sister, giving her the special care she needed while in King George Hospital and at Foyer Valade. A celebration of life and prayers will be held on Friday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Provincial House, 66 Moore Ave., Winnipeg. Mass of the Resurrection, Saturday, July 12 at 1:30 p.m. at same location. Interment in St. Adolphe will follow. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
