DAVID MICHAEL ZAHAIKO March 1, 1950 - July 10, 2003 The family of Dave sadly announces his passing on July 10, 2003, after a brief battle with cancer. Dave was born March 1, 1950, in Gimli, MB, to Michael and Pearl. He completed his education in Gimli and then moved to Winnipeg. He was boarding at Stoney and Helen Sigurdurs when he met Gloria, his wife of 31 years. Together they raised four beautiful and talented children, Carolynne (Cory), Shannon, Joanne and Michael. Dave leaves behind one grandson Cameron Krall. He also leaves to mourn his mother Pearl; and sister Diane (Bob Zamkotowich and Kyle) his in-laws, Peter and Carol Steciuk, Larry and Renata Steciuk (K.C., Mark and Suzy), Deanne and John Tabar (Jonathon, Ryan and Katie), Mike and Brenda Steciuk (Haley). Dave was employed by Winnipeg Hydro for 33 years until his retirement in 2002. Thanks to all his hydro and hockey buddies who visited, phoned or sent offers to help, also, to his hunting companion, Alfie Ryan, for his visits, and special thanks to Dick Hiebert for his compassionate visits and handyman skills. Thanks to Dr. S. Israel and Dr. P. Czakowski at CancerCare Manitoba and the staff at St. Boniface for their excellent care. At Daves request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Voyage Funeral Home. If friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, in Daves memory, or to an education trust fund for Michael (in care of L. Steciuk, 107 Summerview Lane, R2V 3W6).
