ROSAURO "OTIS" LAUREL It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, uncle and friend Otis on July 13, 2003 at St. Boniface Hospital. He was born in Santa Rosa Laguna, Philippines on October 7, 1949. After completing a college degree in accounting, he immigrated to Winnipeg, MB in 1974. In his 29 years in Winnipeg, he worked for Old Dutch Foods, Bank of Montreal, and most recently with Symcor Services Inc. With his pleasant nature, he captured the heart of everyone he met. "Otis" was kind, humble, honest and soft spoken. Although he was quiet, he spoke with passion and he was always respectful of other peoples feelings. He believed in living life to the fullest and enjoyed laughter and having a good time. He loved all sports, especially fishing and basketball. It was a common sight to see him playing basketball on his driveway, challenging kids half his age to a game. He liked to do crossword puzzles, play guitar and sing. To his wife Mila, he was a sweetheart. He was not only her best friend and companion, but her soul mate. His children will remember him as the perfect dad. He was always there to guide them and teach them how to enjoy life. Otis was the youngest member of his family. He loved his siblings and would do anything for them. Otis will forever be remembered for the "Million Dollar" smile. Every time he entered a room, his smile would fill peoples hearts with a sense of love and happiness. Otis will be greatly missed by his wife of 27 years, Mila; children, Lawrence (Benny-Bennett), and Luella; dog "Belle"; sisters, Letty, Marina (Brian), and Zeny (Junior) nephews, Nonoy (Juvy), Ehtut (Pinky), Jon-Jon (Weng), Bong-Gong (Gay), Eddie, Neil (Evelyn), Monching (Carmen) and Darren (Ruth) nieces, Sunshine, Crystal, Linda (Ernie), Raquel, Ronnie and Mae; aunt Juling Anthony; in-laws, Carding, Tuding and Minia, Chris, Lito (Sonia), Ray (Terry), Tess (Bhoy), Lucy (Rene), and Lilia (Oscar) nephews and nieces, Eric and Goldie, Rod (Cheryld), Jeff (Jill), Sonny, Bong, Day, Juliet and Jean; and numerous relatives in and out of Canada. Predeceased by parents, Dionisio and Arsenia; brothers, Narding and Denny; and sister Norma. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 21 at the Filipino United Community Church, 1039 Pritchard Ave. Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
