JOHN LOFTUR JORUNDSON On July 12, 2003, John was peacefully embraced by our Heavenly Father after a long battle with illnesses. His loving family and pastor were at his side. John leaves behind, his loving and devoted wife Evelyn of 47 years; sons, Glenn (Darlene) and Darrell (Cynthia) and daughter Lynn (Dan). He cherished his grandchildren, Jonathan, Kyle, Deirdre, Alycia, Marc, Jocelyne; his grand-puppies; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John is also survived by his brothers, Barry (Edith), Dave (Sandra) sister Janet (Fred) Halls; and his brother-in-law John Oliver. He was predeceased by his parents, Thorhallur and Thorun Jorundson, and his sister Elva Oliver. John was born in Winnipeg, and was raised and lived in the St. James area all of his life. He worked for 34 years with Air Canada. He was known affectionately as "Jorgy". Johns relationships with his family and friends truly reflected his strong love for and belief in God. In the many roles he played in his life, John has blessed us with all that he has left behind. With his wisdom he taught us about forgiveness and life. He supported us with great strength and most importantly cared for us with great love. During his battle with illness, John tried everything possible to fight the heart problems and polymyositis he faced. His greatest strength was his positive attitude. He always saw the best in every situation and he never gave up. John loved the times he spent in Arizona and the friends he met. Everyone loved his great sense of humour and jolly laugh. We will not be able to see him with our eyes but we will always feel him with our hearts. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital ICU for the care they gave John. We also thank Pastors Rod Buck, Jan Pastucha and Karl Koslowsky for their prayers and spiritual guidance. We also thank all those who prayed for John and family. The church service will be held on Thursday July 17 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church at 871 Cavalier Drive, 837-8268. The viewing will be held immediately prior to the service. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Society (Polymyositis), 105 - 386 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R1, 942-4892. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
