MORRIS WHITEMAN Morris Whiteman passed away in his sleep on July 14, 2003 at the age of 88. Morris grew up in Winnipeg, graduated from the University of Manitoba, won a scholarship to UBC, and earned a Masters in Agricultural Engineering from McGill University. As a highly regarded construction engineer, he helped build the Alaska Highway, many bridges and refineries throughout the U.S., the Winnipeg Pan Am Pool and the Concert Hall. He was an officer in the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War and was very proud of being a War Veteran. One of his pleasures was the Friday afternoon poker game with his friends and fellow vets at the General Monash Legion on Main Street. He was a serious philatelist, a league bowler, a player on the Manitoba Allstar 60+ Championship baseball team, and an avid fisherman. But nothing meant more to him than his cherished family. Morris is survived by Bessie, his beloved wife of 62 years; his daughters Resanne (Earl) Saltzman and Clare Whiteman; his grandchildren Bev (Marc) Lewyn, Frank (Jennifer) Saltzman and David (Laura) Saltzman; and four beautiful great-granddaughters Alexandra, Rachel, Sarah and Rebecca Lewyn. He is loved and will be deeply missed
