Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER (AL) BRYGIDYR It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father on Sunday, July 13, 2003 at Grace Hospital. Walter (Al) will be sadly missed by his son Craig (Willa) of Calgary and daughter Patti. He is survived by two brothers, Joe (Julie) and Steve; as well as two grandchildren; and many relatives. Walter was predeceased by his wife Phyllis; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John and Katherine Brygidyr; and brother Norman. Walter was born in the north end of Winnipeg in 1924. He attended King Edward School as a boy , joined the R.C.A.F. at 19 where he served overseas for two years, and married Phyllis upon his return in 1946. Wally was employed for 37 years with Manitoba Telephone System from which he retired as a senior clerk in 1986. The same year he became a Christian and began attending the St. James Gospel Chapel with his wife, where he greatly enjoyed a weekly home Bible study with friends. Walter had a keen interest in trains, both life size and his own H.O. models. He was also an airplane enthusiast, especially regarding ones from the Second World War. Walter had the ability to make people laugh easily, through his retelling of familiar jokes, and his own special sense of humour. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Walters memory to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, of MB, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
