Date of Passing: Jul 14, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY GENEVIEVE PITTS Just weeks before her 88th birthday, on July 14, 2003, Mary Genevieve Pitts passed away peacefully and was reunited with her beloved parents and two brothers, Herman and Louise, Herman Jr. (Bud) and Harold (Skeet) Pitts. She leaves to mourn her loss, her son Joel and granddaughter Angela; sister Olive MacPhail; sister-in-law Connie Kobialko; nephews and nieces, Brian (Janice), Edwin (Gloria) Pitts, Joan (Rob Rose) and John MacPhail; nine great-nephews; one great-niece and one great-great-nephew, Connor Pitts, who recently delighted her with a visit from Edmonton. Her family thanks God for the gift of her loving presence in their lives. She will be sorely missed. Mary Genevieve worked for the Department of National Defence in Ottawa, and for CN-CP Telecommunications in Montreal and Winnipeg until her retirement. She particularly loved having the opportunity to live in Montreal, a city she loved. She took advantage of any chance she had to travel and in later years was an avid reader of "armchair travel" literature. She lived in West Park Manor from September 1998 until her passing. Her family appreciates the countless kindnesses and personalized care bestowed upon her by the entire staff. She often confided how very fortunate she was to live there. She took much pleasure in the special things done for her by the staff, by the families of other residents and by her friends who dropped by. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Ave., with Msgr. Ward Jamieson presiding. If friends so desire, donations in Marys memory may be made to the C.N.I.B., 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3, or to the charity of their choice.
