AGUSTIN C. TUGADE SR. May 9, 1927 - July 14, 2003 Peacefully, after a lengthy illness and with his family by his side, Agustin C. Tugade Sr., passed away on Monday, July 14, 2003 at Seven Oaks Hospital. He was predeceased by both his parents and three sisters from the Philippines and his great-grandson Christian Kyle. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories his very loving and caring wife of over 50 years, Apolinaria, his primary caregiver during his lengthy illness, who remained truly devoted to the love of her life until his very last days. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: his son Melvin and his wife Marilyn; daughter Evelyn, who was his constant advocate and her husband Felix Pao; son Hayden and his wife Eva; sons, Agustin Jr. and Arius; and daughter Mailah and her husband Procopio Jr. He will also be lovingly remembered by his daughters-in-law, Nida and Sandra. He leaves to cherish all the fond memories he shared with his grandchildren, Melody (Lito), Jeremiah (Erin), Kenneth (Christine), Karen, Maireen-Grace, Catherine-Lee, Chantelle-Desiree, Stephanie, Sarah, Joshua, Nathan, Niko-Richey, Jordan, Bobby-Jane, Teylor-Symone, Jonas, Teira-Shea, Jaeryd-Procopio; and his great-grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Cody and Caleb. He will be sadly missed by his brother Redipto (Saling) from Winnipeg, his brother Esminio in the Philippines, by all his other relatives in Canada, throughout the Philippines and in the U.S.A., his brothers and sisters from the congregation of Jehovah Witnesses and his many friends and associates that were fortunate to know him in this lifetime. Born in Alaminos, Pangasinan in a farming village in the Philippines, Agustin enlisted in the United States Army at a very young age. He was honourably discharged in 1949. From there, he continued his quest for a fuller life and met and married his future wife Apolinaria Ramos. He joined the Alaminos police force for a few years and decided to move to Manila where he continued his education and became employed with the Government of the Philippines Housing Corporation. This is the time when he found his true faith and became baptized as a Jehovah Witness in 1954. In 1976, Agustin moved to Canada with his family. He was in the workforce for many years, enjoyed going fishing with his family and friends and was known for his powerful serves during tennis matches with his friends. Agustin remained a constant believer in Jehovah God, strong in his faith and spent a lot of time preaching his Word. He often gathered his grandchildren in a circle and read to them the Bible Book of Stories. In fact, he always seemed to have a story for anyone that would listen. It was in his nature to share to the world what was in his heart and mind. He was truly devoted to enhancing the lives of people around him. He was always known for his kindness, generosity, sense of humour and that great big smile he always had to share. The family of Mr. Agustin C. Tugade Sr. would like to extend their gratitude to all those who cared for him during his time of need, from the homecare workers to the hospital staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital. A special thank you to the 5th floor staff and especially to all the staff on 3U5, where he spent his last days. We thank you all for your caring and loving support. A private family viewing was held July 15, 2003 and a memorial service was held for all those who were able to attend July 16, 2003, with all arrangements entrusted to and beautifully done by Glen Eden Funeral Home. This is the Bibles promise to those who will live in the new paradise: "God will be with them. He will wipe out all the tears and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away" (Revelations 21:4). Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
