THELMA BLACK (nee CLISBY) It was with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Thelma Black, in her 88th year, announced her passing on Sunday, March 2, 2003. Born in Ninette, MB, February 26, 1915, she served in Edmonton, AB with the Canadian Womens Army Corps. Married to Donald in 1946, she resided in Winnipeg, MB until moving to Thunder Bay, ON in 1964.Her main joys in life were her family, home, and her many crafts. Thelma will be lovingly remembered by her five daughters, Terry (Don Scott) and Jackie, all of Winnipeg, and Wendy (Norman Oddleifson), Susan (John Ritchie), and Karen, all of Thunder Bay; seven grandchildren, Vicki, Dawn, Chris, Leah, Jay, Keith, and Jessica; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Fritz (Yvette) of Ninette and George of Brandon, MB. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Petra; her husband Don in 1985; and brothers, Melvin who was killed in action in the Second World War, Billy, and Frank. According to Thelmas wishes, she was cremated and her ashes will be interred beside her mother and father at Ninette Cemetery on July 21 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Lawrence Smith of Killarny, MB will preside. All are welcome to join the family at Ninette Motor Hotel for refreshments after the interment.
