Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE A. STOYKA It is with deep sadness that we announce our darling Cathy has gone to heaven after a courageous battle with cancer on July 17, 2003, at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit. Cathy will be dearly missed by her loving parents, Stephen and M. Ruth; her siblings, James (Marcie), Ken, Barb and Michael (Sophie) her nieces, Stephanie, Kaitlyn, Chenille, Mary and Lindsay; nephews, Jeff, John, Ramlah and Brendin and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Cathy was predeceased by her sister Debbie in December 1993, also of cancer. Many words can be used to describe Cathy. She was creative, funny, mischievous compassionate, caring, charitable, loving, resilient, sympathetic, handy, impatient, tenacious, stubborn, moody, brave, passionate and loyal. Cathy had many accomplishments in her life but her proudest moment was her graduation from the University of Manitoba in 1997 with her degree in Bachelor of Human Ecology. Cathy was a creative and talented seamstress and went to great lengths to make sure her creations were perfect; from Halloween costumes to wedding dresses to re-upholstering furniture. All of her nieces and nephews had their wishes for Halloween costumes fulfilled by Auntie Cathy and nothing was too much for her "kids". She enjoyed making all holidays special with her crafts and many of our homes are filled with them as a reminder of her love for special occasions. Cathy touched many peoples lives as she had a big heart and tried to help everyone in some small way. Her memory will be cherished by all. She was employed by Smith Agencies until her illness overtook her and had been a caretaker at Brentwood Lodge for five years. During that time, she took her position seriously and clucked over her residents with care. The family thanks and expresses their gratitude to those who have cared for Cathy over the last years, especially Sheri and the staff at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful kindness and gentle care. We would also like to extend our thanks to Dr. Lysak and Dr. Permack for their support, encouragement and care of Cathy. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends wishing may make a donation in memory of Cathy to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit. Flowers are gratefully declined. MISS ME, BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take And each must go alone, Its all part of the Masters Plan A step on the road to home. So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds Miss me, but let me go. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
