Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNIE DROZDA Jesus said I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in Paradise. Sorrowfully we regret to announce that our beloved Mother, Mother-in-law, Baba and Great-Baba Annie Drozda passed into the presence of our Blessed Saviour on Saturday, July 19, 2003. Mother was the second daughter born to Maria and Andrew Samerick on February 7, 1914. She was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg. Annie married Adam Drozda on May 12, 1934 and resided in Elmwood most of her life. Annie is now reunited with her beloved husband Adam and her family in Gods keeping; her dear parents, Maria and Andrew Samerick; three sisters, Minnie Nazar, Helen Boyko and Stella Hughes. Annie leaves in deep sadness her daughter Helen and son-in-law Peter Dudych; her much loved grandchildren, Theresa and Ed Shyka, Elaine and Brian Scammell, Richard and Odette Dudych; seven great-grandchildren, Adam, Rebecca, Dylan, Carley, Michelle, Danielle and Alysha. Also bereaved are two nieces and many cousins. Annie took great pride in her family instilling them with her religious faith. She possessed a Love For Life and the ability to keep with changing times, keeping her young in Spirit. She was immensely proud of her Ukrainian heritage. Babas first love and priority was her family. She loved family gatherings and these times will be forever etched in her families hearts and memories. Our Baba was the force that made us a family and she got fulfilment from life by spending precious time with her grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren whom she loved so much. Known for her calm, gentle manner and strong Catholic beliefs Annie and her husband Adam were one of the founding pioneer members of the late Our Lady of Perpetual Help" Ukrainian Catholic Church on Talbot Avenue. Annie was very active in church affairs and will be remembered for her energy and enthusiasm for all her volunteer activities. Annie lived with her daughter Helen and son-in-law Peter for several years and then entered the Holy Family Nursing Home. With her pleasant nature Mother quickly adapted to her new home, making friends and enjoyed the social activities. Her independent personality, keen mind and quick wit kept the staff on the 4th floor on their toes. Panakhyda (Prayers) will be sung on Wednesday, July 23, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, July 24, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Ave. (North Kildonan), with Rev. Deacon gordon Mendres officiating. Mother was prepared to be with God and to be once again united with her husband Adam and her many family members who predeceased her. Mother will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery beside Dad. If friends so desire donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Anne Building Fund, 445 Douglas Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2G 0Y3. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the following for their kindness and care, to Home Care, Sisters and staff on the 4th floor of Holy Family for their compassionate care provided to Mom over the many years. Many thanks to our parish priest, Rt. Rev. Canon Walter Klimchuk. In Gods own time we will meet again. Vichnaya PamYat CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
