Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVE KONDRATUK On Friday, July 18, 2003 with his family by his side, Steve passed away at the age of 92 years at the Beausejour Health Centre, Beausejour, MB. Steve, the son of Xenia and Michael Kondratuk was born January 5, 1911 in the RM of Brokenhead and later moved with his family to the farm in Plumas (Tupper District) in 1928. On October 27, 1935 he married Leda Mona Belton, daughter of Wade Hampton and Fanny Belle Helms Belton. They had four children, Ann, Leon, Bruce and Juanita. In 1946 the family farm was sold and October 31 they moved to Gladstone, MB where Steve started his own "General Repair and Machine Shop" business. "If we cant fix it, throw it away!" was his well known motto. On October 31, 1950 the family moved to Seven Sisters Falls area and began building Otter Falls Resort even before the road was built into the Whiteshell Provincial Park. In April 1970, Steve and Leda sold Otter Falls Resort and moved to Winnipeg to retire. One year later they bought a small store and moved to Harding, MB for the next six years. They retired to Beausejour in September 1992 where they met and enjoyed many new friends through the Legion and Club 50. Steves passion for tractors served him well during his last days at home. He used his small garden John Deere tractor around the yard, it was his "Cadillac". Steve was predeceased by his son Leon, five sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Leda, children, Ann Henschel (Gordon), Bruce Kondratuk (Beth) and Juanita Cousins (Jerry) sister Alice Belton, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and friends may join Steves family in prayers on Wednesday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. from Russell Funeral Home, Beausejour with Fr. Ivan Demkiw officiating. Committal of his remains will be on Thursday, July 24 at 1:00 p.m. in the Holy Ghost Cemetery, Beausejour. RUSSELL FUNERAL HOMES LTD & CREMATORIUM of Beausejour, Manitoba are in care of arrangements.
