Joe was predeceased by his father Alex in 1965, mother Tillie in 1976, brother Nick in 1976, and sister Anne Sadaway in 2001. Joe was born in Rathwell, MB, February 14, 1928. He married Christine in 1954, moved to Winnipeg and raised two sons. He was employed with the trucking industry until his retirement in 1993. Joes whole life revolved around his family. His greatest joy was his six grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. On July 15, four days before his death a special gift was given to him, a great-granddaughter named Jenna. Joe enjoyed taking drives with Christine to visit family and friends. His passion the last few years was sitting on the swing in the backyard enjoying the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening and yard work, cooking, playing cards and pickling dill pickles. Joe was a gentleman with a big heart and will be sadly missed by all. The family would like to give special thanks to Joes niece Gloria for being at our side at the hospital giving support to Mom and Dad at the time of need and to Dr. L. A. LeBoldus and Dr. L. Brandes and to the staff at Palliative Care at. St. Boniface Hospital. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave. with Rev. Fr. Henryk Uczniak officiating.
