ARNOLD DREWLO After a lengthy illness, Arnold passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, July 20, 2003 at the Beausejour Health Centre at the age of 79 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Violet of 53 years of marriage; children, Eleanor Meisner (Wayne), Dorothy Meyer (Larry), Henry Drewlo, and Helena Unwin (Gordon) grandchildren, Heidi, Wendi (friend Glen), Andrew (friend Crystal), Krystle and Brett; his two sisters, Margaret Yaeger and Linda Zimmerman; sister-in-law Irene Drewlo; one brother Emil; as well as numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Arnold was predeceased by his parents, Heinrich and Theophile; sisters, Helena and Lena; brothers, Albert and Arthur; brothers-in-law, Ted Yaeger, Bill Zimmerman, Herman Felbel, Albert Yaeger and Ed Herzog; sisters-in-law, Almida Drewlo and Delila Drewlo; niece Thelma Felbel; and nephew Walter Roucek. Arnold was born on June 17, 1924 in New Home, MB. He farmed in the Moosehorn area and was actively involved with St. Pauls Lutheran Church in New Home, the Farmers Union and Moosehorn Co-op. He married Violet Harwart on June 23, 1950 and they continued to farm in the Moosehorn area until moving to Ladywood in 1964. Arnold farmed all his working life, with his wife Violet until they retired and moved to Beausejour in 1992. Besides farming, Dad was handy at fixing machinery and welding for himself and his neighbours. He also worked for Victor Omichinski building houses. Having a selfless nature, Dad would never turn away a person in need. Dad was truly a spiritual man and lived his life to honour and serve his Lord. He was actively involved as a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Beausejour, where he served as an Elder, an Organist and sang in the choir. Dad had a gift for music, playing the organ, guitar and accordion. He loved socializing, whether at family gatherings or with friends. In later years, due to his strokes, he was a man of few words but liked to be where the action was. Dad was an excellent example as a devoted Christian husband, father and grandfather, caring for his familys spiritual and physical needs. Arnolds funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25 at 2:00 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, 418 Gertrude Ave., Beausejour, MB, with Pastor Harold Borchardt officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Beausejour Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Don and Margaret Drewlo, Gerhard and Gudrun Felbel, Leonard Felbel and Arnolds godchildren, Eleanor Kanak, Beverly Knight, Marlene Meisner, Valerie Roucek, Donna Lagasse and Maureen Smith. Pallbearers will be Andrew Meisner, Brett Meyer, Glen Gosling, Herman Yaeger, Donald Zimmerman and Brian Zimmerman. Our family would like to thank Dr. Daphne Schmidt, the wonderful nurses and staff at the Beausejour Health Centre, Home Care staff, Madeline, Jim, Barb, Lorna, Chris, Lucille, Leona, Marie and Susan for their care and compassion and making Dad comfortable. A special thank you to Pastor Borchardt and Annette, Don and Margaret Drewlo and Gerhard Felbel for everything you have done to help Dad and Mom. As well, thank you to Richard and Louise Wojcik and staff of Wojciks Funeral Chapel for their care and kindness shown to our family.
