ETHEL ELLEVINA COUPRIE (nee HEMPSTOCK) Ethel Ellevina Couprie passed away on June 5, 2003 at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, Sidney, BC at the age of 89, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ethel was born on April 4, 1914 in Clanwilliam, MB. She was predeceased by her husband Kornelis in 1967. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Jim (Karen) and children Scott (Monika) and Russell (Susan) Don (Maureen) and children Dale (Maralee) and Dianne (Tom) and David (Rose) and children Heather, Jonathon and Caitlyn. Ethel retired from Winnipeg to Sidney in 1981 after a career with Manitoba Telephone System. She was very involved with a Sidney seniors organization, where she was known for salvaging dolls, repairing and sewing clothes for them, and giving them away at Christmas. Ethel also enjoyed travelling, visiting Europe and Australia in recent years. She is sadly missed by her many friends. Cremation has taken place. A brief service will be held with interment on Saturday, July 26, 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
