Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWESTLEY LAWRENCE SIMES It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wes on July 22, 2003, following a courageous and lengthy battle. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joanne; sons, Jarvis (Vicki) and Greg; daughter Kate; mother, Frances Erickson; brother Barry; sister Lynn Sinclair (niece and nephew, Dana and Jesse) father and mother-in-law, Bill and Agnes Wilderman; brothers-in-law, Jim, (Jennifer) (nieces Brittany and Tessa), and Ronald and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Borsboom (Allan) (nieces Jessica and Amanda). He was predeceased by his father, Lawrence. Wes was born October 9, 1950 in Preeceville, SK. He worked for the TD Bank for 29 years in numerous management positions in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay and Saskatoon, and from 1999 to 2002 for GKG Wealth Management as an Investment Advisor. He took joy and pride in watching and participating in activities with his children, whether it was at the hockey rink, soccer field, or on the golf course. Always an active person, he enjoyed curling and golf all his life. Loving husband and father and good friend; his optimism, sense of humour, and caring ways will always be remembered. His determination and courage never faltered. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to friends and family who provided their support over the past year, and to gratefully acknowledge the staff of 5B at the St. Boniface Hospital for their care, compassion and friendship. A memorial service will take place on Monday, July 28 at 1:30 p.m. in Garry Memorial Funeral Home, 1291 McGillvray Blvd. Interment will follow in the Garry Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Wes to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
