RUDOLF RUDY BERNJAK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Rudy Bernjak. Rudy passed away suddenly at his home on July 23, 2003. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Josie (Pepca) his son Ferd (Susan) daughter Daniela (Ray) and grandchildren Lorraine, Kristian, Caroline, Andria, and Steven; as well as his many relatives in Slovenia. Rudy was born in Radovci, Slovenija on June 23, 1927. He came to Canada via Austria with his family in 1954. He worked in various positions until finding the job he truly loved, working as a zoo keeper at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, a position he held for 28 years. Rudy was always proud to be a member of the Slovenian community in Winnipeg, receiving support from and offering friendship to fellow Slovenians throughout the years. He always enjoyed Folklorama, the Slovenian picnics in Lorette, and all the cultural and church gatherings at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The family wish to thank Rudys neighbours, the paramedics, and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for all of their efforts. Prayers will be held on Sunday, July 27 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 28 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthonys of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 365 Burnell St. A reception will be held after the service.
