Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMIL TOMA Peacefully, on Thursday, July 24, 2003 Emil Toma passed away at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 83. He was born November 6, 1919 in Velke Pole Hochweis Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Canada with his parents and brother at the age of nine. His working career started in a butcher shop on Main Street and progressed to working with Canada Packers. His mechanical aptitude lead him to a career change working at CNR as a mill rights keeper. He retired as the maintenance shop foreman with the City of Winnipeg in 1985. In 1953 he married the love of his life Molly Sterkell and they were blessed with two sons, David and Robert. Emil had a great ability to work with metal and wood. He was always willing to help anyone in need. If he couldnt fix something he would simply "make another one." Family holidays were a highlight for the Toma family. Countless hours were spent fishing and camping at Caddy Lake and West Hawk Lake, his favourite place to share with family and friends. Emil was known as "Grandpa Toma" to many children and displayed a special love through teasing and buying treats. Dad gave his time, energy, and knowledge, to ensure that his family was well taken care of. He truly had an unselfish love for his family. He leaves to mourn his wife Molly, recently celebrating their 50th Anniversary; sons, David and Robert; and extended family. A celebration of Emils life will be held on Saturday, July 26, at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (entrance on Aubrey Street) at 3:30 p.m. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
