ELIZABETH VANDERHORST 1920 - 2003 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Elizabeth Vanderhorst. In the early morning of July 25 she went to be with her Lord after suffering a heart attack enroute to Winnipeg to visit with her family for the summer. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Petranella Earl (Jim) and Margaret Vrooman; her brothers, Jack (Shirley) and John (Ann) and many nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband George Comtois, her parents, Gertrude and Jacob Vanderhorst; brothers, Harry and Charles; sister Vera Blum; and brother-in-law Doug Earl. She was born and raised in North Kildonan, the second child of eight children. She willingly took on the role of nurturer and caregiver for her younger siblings during their childhood years. She attended Lord Kitchener School and worked at Eatons and The Bay upon graduation. She then pursued a career in modelling and moved to New York City where she lived for most of her life. Her winters were spent at her home in Lake Worth, FL which became her permanent residence in her later years. She graciously shared her home with family and friends. Elizabeth will be remembered for her artistic talents expressed by designing and sewing her sisters bridal and attendant gowns, painting and collecting art work and remodelling her apartments and homes. She enjoyed living life to the fullest, developing many lifelong friends in her world travels. She married George Comtois, a marketing executive and enjoyed a loving marriage until his early death of lung cancer. She found a new life in Christ through attending the Womens Bible Studies held by Campus Crusade for Christ. She passionately shared her faith with all she met. Her purpose in life was to bring her family and friends to the Lord to experience peace, hope and joy. We will all cherish the memories of our sister, auntie and friend. A service of remembrance will be celebrated on July 30 at 11:30 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. with Rev. Ian Mowat officiating. Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. KLASSEN Funeral Chapel 1897 Henderson-North of McIvor-338-0331
