CATHARINE IRENE POSTL It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our dear mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend, Irene Postl, aged 82, on Friday, July 25, 2003 at St. Boniface Hospital, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Mom faced her cancer with enormous grace, enormous heroism and finally acceptance. We have so much to be thankful for. Mom has blessed us with her fierce love and loyalty throughout the years and has demonstrated this amply with her incredible baking of pies and crisps, her card playing with her grandchildren and the stories she told. She is our hero. Mom is survived by her loving children, James (Beverly) of Houston, Ron of Qualicum Beach, daughter-in-law Caron of Qualicum Beach, Brian (Sharon) of Winnipeg, Sandy (Joel) of Vancouver, her eight grandchildren, Jennifer (John), Erin (Ken), Lara, Jessie, Luke, Zach, Joey, Emma and her great-grandson Jackson. She is also survived by her siblings, Betty, Marge (Bert), Jim (Marion), Orland (Terry), Lawrie (Gloria), Len (Carol) and many nieces and nephews and friends. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph in 1967, by her parents, Elizabeth and Peter; and by her sister Ruth. Mom was born on August 22, 1920 in Melville, SK but lived in Winnipeg most of her 82 years. In her later years, Mom played a significant role at Bleak House as president and ceramic crafter and has provided a steady stream of her hand painted ceramics to all of her loved ones. Our family would like to express their profound appreciation to Dr. Clayton Dyck and his nurse April Frego, at the Kildonan Medical Centre. Mom spent the last six weeks of her life at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital where she received remarkable care from Dr. Harlos, Dr. Crawford, and the staff of ward 8A. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, St. Boniface Hospital, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m.at the St. Lukes Zion Lutheran Church at 2903 McPhillips. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
