GEORGE ANDREW COX On Saturday, July 26, 2003 after a valiant struggle with cancer, George A. Cox, of Selkirk, cherished husband of Sheila passed away. George was born on April 19, 1934 to the late Robert and Mary Cox (Kiloh) of Brandon. Besides his loving wife Sheila, he is survived by his son Greg (Denise) Cox of Winnipeg and his daughter Pamela (Brent) Wall of Clandeboye; two grandchildren, Brittany and Andrew Cox of Winnipeg; his sister Margaret Findlay of Brandon; his father-in-law Sherman Clark of Grandview; his brother-in-law Grant Clark of Calgary as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Maisie Clark (Hall/Brown) of Grandview; his brother John Cox of Vancouver; sister Elsie; brother-in-law Jim Martin of Shoal Lake; sister-in-law Mary Cox of Portage la Prairie and his brother-in-law Cam Findlay of Shoal Lake. George attended Brandon College in Sciences. His work career included the Department of Agriculture at the Brandon Experimental Farm along with more than 36 years with Manitoba Hydro as Laboratory Technician at the Brandon Generating station as well as Station Chemist at the Selkirk Generating Station. His interests were varied, fishing, hunting, woodworking, photography, sports and a joy for travel. George coached soccer, baseball and hockey, along with a major enjoyment in the Hydro Hornets organization. George and Sheila enjoyed many years of winter travel to the South having Mesa, Arizona as a second home. In Arizona, George played an active role in resort activities. Of most importance to George was his family, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. Burial of ashes will take place on Wednesday, July 30 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Clements Anglican Churchyard followed by a memorial service at Christ Anglican Church, Selkirk at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev Brian Bjerring officiating. A reception will follow. All relatives and friends are invited to attend. Rest in Peace. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
