Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD PATRICK DENNEHY June 18, 1917 - July 27, 2003 Born in Winnipeg to Gerald Dennehy of Cork, Ireland and Helen (nee Penny) of Aberdeen, Scotland. He graduated from St. Pauls High School and the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Agriculture. In 1946 he married Doreen (Dodie) Wallace, RN and settled down to a family life and a career in agri-product sales throughout the prairies and the United States. He loved the land and the people of the prairies, the hustle of the United States and his many business associates and was welcomed with open arms wherever he went. His energy extended to community affairs in Winnipeg and Victoria Beach and he was a creative planner for many successful events. Irish to the core, Gerry always stirred up an atmosphere of fun, spontaneity and hospitality for which the Dennehy household was famous. His lively presence, good humour and raconteurship will be deeply missed by Dodie; his sons and their wives, Shaun and Susan, Kerry and Ginny, Timothy and Liz, Regan and Kym; youngest son Clancy; his daughter DArcy; his 10 grandchildren who knew him as Geepers; his sister Helen; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his eldest grandson Kelty Patrick Dennehy, sister Geraldine and brother Bill. He held his family close by regular correspondence of news, advice, clippings and visits to their homes in Whitehorse, Whistler, Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax and Australia. He read constantly to feed his many interests and enthusiastically kept in touch with friends and relatives across the globe. Gerry had a deep love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter, a sport which he enjoyed all of his life with his sons and friends. He was ever in the know of the latest hockey, football, baseball and golf action. He loved Victoria Beach and was proud of his beautiful grounds and gardens. Here he spent his last days among friends and family. A funeral mass celebrating Gerald Patricks life will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church, Stafford and Corydon, with Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating.
