She will also be deeply missed by her sister Wilhelmine Garty; "sister" Jean Doern; in-laws, Victor and Verna Pattle and Jean Pattle; her uncle Bill Doern and aunt Ruth Winkler; as well as her many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was also predeceased by her parents, Philip and Wilhelmine (Brunn) Doern, sisters, Viola Knisley, Lorraine Tweed, Caroline Doern, Rowena Collins and brother Douglas Doern. Marjorie was born on April 9, 1918 in Winnipeg and grew up in Morden, MB. After finishing high school, she worked as a Tailor and Seamstress until she married Raymond on May 12, 1940. They then returned back to Winnipeg where she enjoyed raising her family. Marjorie loved sewing, baking, knitting and later having her grandchildren over for visits. The companionship of her "cats", Ginger and listening to Lawrence Welk brought her many hours of pleasure. Mom valued her family and loved to celebrate with them on special occasions. She was especially proud of all her children and grandchildrens accomplishments. She had a marvellous memory and could be counted on to remember family history in great detail, (Auntie Marj always knew!) As well she made sure she remembered family birthdays and anniversaries with cards and phone calls. Her family would especially like to thank the staff of Bethania Personal Care Home. Their compassionate care and understanding enhanced Marjories quality of life. She enjoyed numerous activities, including being on the Residents Council, singing in the choir, winning at Bingo and Beauty Hour. A memorial service to celebrate Marjories life will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 30, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with Pastor Gerhard Friesen officiating.
