EDITH PEACE WARD (KEIL) (nee LENTON) November 11, 1918 - July 26, 2003 Surrounded by the love of her family, Edith passed away peacefully after a courageous struggle with renal failure. Mourning her passing are her loving husband Cliff; her daughters, Sharon (Lyle) Chopp and Linda (Bill) Palmer; sisters, Laura (Gordon) Goetz and Rita Lindsay; and many nieces and nephews. She is cherished and will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Jeff Palmer (special friend Carolyn Frost), James (Bonnie) Palmer, Kathryn (Dave) Dangerfield, and David (Jody) Chopp, and great-grandchildren Meg and Jack Dangerfield. She was predeceased by her first husband Fred Keil, and brothers, Tom and Henry Lenton. Mum was born in Ridgeville, MB on November 11, 1918, and in recognition of the Armistice was given the name Peace. Her life exemplified her name. Her early years were spent in Ridgeville. She married Fred in 1941, settled in Winnipeg and raised their family. Mum was a faithful Eatons employee for over 22 years, retiring in 1977. Mum married Cliff Ward in 1977 and moved to Woodmore, MB to begin a new chapter in her life. Mum created a beautiful home, planting and nurturing her lovely flower gardens and park-like yard. Her home was always warm and welcoming to family and friends. She took an active part in her community, participating in both Ridgeville and Woodmore W.I. groups. In 1996, Mum and Cliff moved to Silverview Estates in Winnipeg, where she enjoyed many friendships, and took an active part in the activities of the complex. A strong Christian faith sustained Mum throughout her life. She was an organist and choir director at St. Johns Lutheran Church for 8 years; taught Sunday School and attended Ladies Aid at Christ Lutheran Church, where she also became the first female Church Council member. Later, she took an active role at Greenridge United Church and sang in the choir. A woman of many talents, Mum excelled at music, sewing, needlework, knitting, cooking, baking, writing poetry and gardening. Mum was one in a million! Above all, Mum cherished her family and placed them first and foremost in her life. She lived her life with dignity, grace, and courage, an inspiration to us all. We will miss her dearly. Interment has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 600 Cambridge St., with Pastor Ron Long and Pastor Rick Sauer officiating. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Ediths memory to CancerCare Manitoba or the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba. May the Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. WE LOVE YOU CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
