DR. RAJA R. GRANDHI Dr. Raja R. Grandhi, beloved husband of Annapurna, passed away suddenly at Brandon Regional Health Centre Intensive Care Unit in Brandon on Saturday, July 26, 2003. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Annapurna, and his son Rajendra (Shalini) and their children, Varun and Pallavi; and his daughter Sumathi (Jeff McGregor) and their children, Michael, Sarah and John. As well, he is survived by his only brother Ravindra (Sarojani) and their children, Praveena, Prasanna and Prashanthi. Raja achieved a lot in his short lifetime. He was born and raised in the small village of Kullur in India. He had a wonderful life in India with a supportive, caring and successful family. His was already a well accomplished life. However, his thoughts were not of himself alone. For the purpose of providing his children with a better future, he set his sights and goals far from his home, and settled halfway around the world. It was a very painful sacrifice to make. His family is grateful for his love and courage. Raja immigrated to Canada in 1968, and completed his Ph.D. in Animal Sciences. He served Canada at the Agriculture Canada Research Station in Brandon for over 25 years as an esteemed and award-winning scientist. The entire family wishes to express their gratitude to Drs. Kramer and Bookatz, the nurses, and the staff of the ICU for their kindness and their respectful care of Raja in the final hours of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dr. Grandhi to Brandon University Foundation in support of a fund to provide annual financial support for students attending the Masters degree in the Department of Rural Development.
