HOPE ELIZABETH MAWHINNEY (nee HUMPHRIS) September 2, 1946 - July 26, 2003 Peacefully, on Saturday, July 26, 2003, Hope passed away at the Grace Hospital surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her father; mother; stepfather; and her beloved brothers, Bobby and Johnny. Hope will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gord, son Rob, daughter Meghan, sister-in-law May Hamilton (Ed) and her niece and nephew Dana and Craig (Sue-Anne). Hope worked at MTS from 1964 to her early retirement in 1996. Hope ended her distinguished career as Marketing Manager - Customer Service, "Can you say Sales Rallies"? She will be remembered as someone who made her own direction, and always had a ready laugh for anyone who crossed her path, but dont touch her Diet Coke. In preparation for retirement in 1994, Hope and Gord set off on a new entrepreneurial endeavour and Face-Off Sportscards was born. "Come for the cards, stay for the abuse" was pretty much Hopes motto about life. When not working at the store, which she loved, her hobbies included weekly Bridge Club, reading mysteries, WWF Wrestling with Robbie, shopping with Meghan and of course the Downs will have to retire a VLT machine or two in her memory. Family was the most important part of Hopes life and she was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. As she always said, "Im bringing up my children just the way they wanted me to". A very special thanks to friends, who were a constant support and source of much laughter, especially Lori and Marion. Thank you also to the medical staff at the Grace Hospital ICU and CancerCare units who provided her and her family with comfort though a very difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Hopes name to Grace Hospital CancerCare or the new Grace Hospice at 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31 at the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. (St. James). LEATHERDALE GARDINER Funeral Chapel - St. James - 949-4872
