INA MARGARET McINTYRE (nee HARRIS) On Sunday, July 27, 2003 at the Portage District Hospital in Portage la Prairie, Ina McIntyre, aged 88 years, beloved wife of the late Cameron McIntyre of Culross, MB., passed away. Ina was born at the family farm, Grosse Isle, MB., on June 17, 1915, younger daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stuart G. Harris. Educated at Grosse Isle Consolidated School and at Stonewall Collegiate. Attended Winnipeg normal School in 1935-36. She taught school for 23 years at Lake Francis Woodlands, both Castleton and Giltedge Schools at Culross, Fort Garry, and St. Vital. Ina was an ardent supporter of the rural schools and the tremendous contribution they made to education. From 1941-1944 she served as Director of Junior Red Cross for Manitoba. Married N. Cameron McIntyre in 1943 and spent many years on their farm at Culross, teaching school until 1966. For four years 1968-1972, acted as office assistant at Elm Creek Collegiate. Ina was a member of Culross Copper Club from its inception in 1949 and was a dedicated worker for the many accomplishments of the organization as well as taking part in all other activities in Culross. Ina was predeceased by her husband Cameron in 1997. She is survived by Stewart and Jean McIntyre of Elm Creek; three nephews, Jim and Helen Harris of Grosse Isle, MB., George and Barbara Harris of Grosse Isle, MB., and Bryan and Janice McIntyre of Elm Creek, MB. She is also survived by four nieces, Agnes Harris of Surrey B.C., Donna and Kev Baldwin of Grosse Isle, Carol and Dan Nichol of Grosse Isle, and Frances and Leonard Friesen of Elm Creek. She is also survived by great-nephews and nieces, cousins, many friends, fellow teachers, and former students. Ina was predeceased by her parents, Stuart in 1931, and Annie in 1948; brother George Harris in 1984, his wife Helen in 2003; by brother Charles Harris in 1989 and his wife Emma in 1954, sister Nan; Dietz in 1977 and her husband Ernest in 1988; nephew Ted Harris in 1990; niece Wilda Jones in 1973; sister-in-law Vivian McIntyre in 1982; brother-in-law Dougald McIntyre in 2001 and his wife Vivian; and brother and sister-in-law Norman and Peggy McIntyre both in 1999. Funeral service will be held from the Elm Creek United Church in Elm Creek on Thursday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Brookside Cemetery. Donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Doyles Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
