Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT WILLIAM MCKELVY It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend on July 27, 2003 at the MacGregor Health Centre. Bob was predeceased by his father Vernon in 1996. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Donna; his mother Margaret; sister Susan; son Jason (Pam) daughter Jill (Shawn) daughter Jolene (Rick) grandchildren, Braden, Declan, Keegan, Amy, Brody; mother-in-law Netta Butterfield: sister-in-law Bonnie (Randy) Rintoul, as well as numerous friends and family. Bob was born in Portage la Prairie on March 15, 1944 and lived in Beaver and MacGregor in his early years. He received his Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of North Dakota in 1966. Bob married Donna Butterfield in 1967. He spent time in Winnipeg, Ottawa, and Calgary before taking over his fathers insurance business in 1979 and raising his three children in MacGregor. Bob was a strong believer in supporting his community. He played a quiet but major role in many organizations such as Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Curling Club, Golf Club, Minor Hockey, North-Norfolk MacGregor Foundation, Westman Insurance Group, Christmas Cheer Board to name a few. His interests ranged widely from sporting events to theatre. Bob was always a wonderful source of information because of his love of reading. Traveling was always a great adventure with him organizing it all. He enjoyed his family immensely especially his grandchildren. Sincere thanks is extended to the staff of the MacGregor Health Center, Dr. Samuels, staff of the Portage and District Hospital, the many Doctors, staff from Cancer Care Manitoba, and the many friends that have helped so very much during Bobs illness. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, July 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacGregor United Church with Rev. Quentin Robinson officiating. Eulogy was given by Vivian McGregor and Ron Wiebe. Isobelle Wright presided at the organ and pianist was Roberta Stone. Congregational Hymns were I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry, Precious Lord, Take My Hand, and Praise The Lord. Soloist, Lynda Palmer sang Ave Maria. The Choir Anthem was Flying Free with Dorothy Finch presiding at the piano and Heather Stone-Klippenstein was the flutist. All family and friends in attendance were considered honourary pallbearers. Interment followed in the MacGregor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Research), 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7; or the MacGregor Health Foundation Inc., Box 250, MacGregor, MB, R0H 0R0.
