ALBERT ERNEST JANKE 1921 - 2003 On Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the age of 82 years, Albert Janke passed away. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, children, Donna (Rick Melia), Brenda (Clark Purves) and Ron (Chris) grandchildren, Caitlin, Alex, Laura, Sean, Sabrina, Adam, Kamryn and Eric, Erin, Abby; brothers, Lloyd (Louise) and Wilfred (Aileen) sisters, Thelma (Don Alexander), Ruth Murray and Lillian (Steve Trappitt) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Susan Janke; two infant brothers; sister and brother-in-law Ethel and Gus Recksiedler; brother-in-law Jack Murray; and an infant son and daughter. Albert was born on his familys farm in Rosenfeld on June 21, 1921. He attended Rosenfeld school for two years before the family moved to a farm in the Morris area. He attended Youville School. He married Eleanor Kletke in 1949. They farmed in the Sperling area and later in the Morris area. They also sold and applied fertilizer for a few years. Albert also worked at the Manitoba Sugar Beet Company and was icemaker at the Morris Curling Rink. Farming remained his main interest. Albert was Past President of the Morris Lions Club, an Honorary Life Member of the Morris Curling Club and a member of the "Red Hat" Club of the Valley Agricultural Society. He enjoyed curling, playing cards, fishing, hunting, music, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. Albert and Eleanor spent many of their retirement years traveling to "PolkaFest" dances in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the United States. Albert also had a strong faith and active church life. Family was very important to Albert and his grandchildren provided some of the greatest joys in his life. They will miss their "Papa". The family wishes to thank Dr. Fraser and nurses and staff at the Morris General Hospital for their wonderful care. Special thanks also to family and friends for their thoughts, prayers, visits and support over the past while. The funeral service will be held Saturday August 2 at 11:30 a.m. in the Morris United Church.
