Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySIGRIDUR (SIGGA) LILJA FREEMAN June 9, 1913 - July 30, 2003 Sigga Freeman passed away peacefully on July 30, 2003 at the Maples Personal Care Home. Sigga was born to Jon and Gudlaug Halldorson on June 9, 1913 in Lundar, MB. Sigga grew up in Lundar and married Alli Freeman on May 5, 1933. She and Alli moved to Gimli in 1942 before settling in Winnipeg in 1949. Sigga and Alli had six children, Joy (Nelson), Calvin (Evelyn), Floyd, Dennis (Barbara), Gail and Irvin (Karen). Sigga was Amma to 14 grandchildren and Lang Amma to 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Alli in 1988, grandson David in 1998, four brothers and two sisters. Left to cherish Siggas memory are her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, Grace, Emily and Pearl and numerous nieces and nephews. Above all else, Sigga was a devoted wife and mother. Sigga and Alli taught their children the value of hard work and the importance of family. The time and energy they invested in raising their children grew into a lifetime of love and memories, not only for Sigga and Alli, but for their children and generations to come. Sigga and Allis home was seemingly always filled with family and friends, whether they were hosting one of their famous parties or simply having coffee with visiting children, grandchildren or friends. Siggas strength and faith were tested when Alli passed away in 1988. After 55 years of marriage, she was faced with the prospect of life on her own. Sigga bravely went on with her new life, enjoying outings with new friends and continuing to welcome family and friends into her home. Sigga enjoyed reading, listening to music, cooking and baking. Everyone loved her vinarterta and ponnukokur. Sigga also loved to knit and crochet. The homes of her children and grandchildren are filled with afghans, pillows and many other reminders of Sigga and the love and care that went into every stitch. Siggas final years were spent in comfort at the Maples Personal Care Home where Sigga peacefully relived memories of her childhood and life with Alli. Sigga recently celebrated her 90th birthday, giving her one last chance to visit with family and friends. A heart of gold stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. The special years will not return When we are all together, But the love in all our hearts Will stay with us forever. Forever loved and always remembered. The family wishes to thank the staff at Maples Personal Care Home for the wonderful care they gave Mom during her stay.
