CHARLES JAMES FRY Peacefully, with his family by his side at the Grace Hospital on Friday, August 1, 2003 "Charlie" passed away at the age of 92 years. Charlie is survived and deeply missed by Olga his wife of 52 years; children, Brian, (Doreen) of Okotoks, AB, Brenda Palmer, (Barry) Karin Plesh, (Al) Harold, (Bernie) Kristina Durham, (John) grandchildren, Michelle, Kristen, Carolyn; Jennifer, Jason; Tommy, Jamie; Kurtiss, Trevor; Amanda; and great-granddaughter Daria; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Jean Oberg and family of Minnedosa, MB. Charlie was born in England and grew up in Brandon, MB. He served in The Second World War. He worked for Elswood Lumber Co. in Winnipeg for many years retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Lord Strathcona Horse Society. He was very active in the St. James community coaching, calling bingos, refereeing, umpiring and timekeeping for over 30 years. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 6 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Viewing will occur prior to the service. A reception at Chapel Lawn will follow the interment. Memorial gifts in memory of Charlie Fry may be made to Kid Sport, in care of Sports Manitoba, (204) 926-8351.
