MARIA THERESA KLAWIS It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of their beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Maria Theresa Klawis on Friday, August 1, 2003. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Wes; her daughters, Sylvia (Neil) Shore, Connie; son Eric (Diane) her grand-children, Andrea, David, Karalyn, Alexia and Mason. Maria was born in Regen, Bavaria, Germany on March 15, 1926. She married Wes in 1949 and they immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada with their two small daughters in 1954. Maria was very devoted to her family, had a wonderful sense of humour and a true zest for life. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Throughout Marias life, she was actively involved in numerous sports, most recently being golf, racquetball, cross-country skiing and could often be seen at the gym. Maria was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain family and friends. She enjoyed being at her cottage on Lake Winnipeg where she tended to her garden. On quieter times Maria would curl up with a good book. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marias memory can be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
