Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE A.M. KAPTEIN (nee BOOM) 1922-2003 It is with great sadness that we announce, after a lengthy illness, the passing of our dear wife, mother, and "OMA" on August 4, 2003 at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 80 years. Leaving to cherish her memory is her loving husband of nearly 59 years of marriage, Theodore; her children, Nicholas, John, Elizabeth (Alex), Joe (Margueritte), Irma (Rick), Ted (Linda), Rene (June), Martin (Cheryl) and Nellie (Al) 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and one brother Piet. She is survived by two brothers and three sisters, Jan, Ad, Joke, Dora, Gre, all of the Netherlands. Gertrude was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with her husband in 1949, settling in Ile-des-Chenes. After raising her children, she went out into the workforce and worked for a number of years as a nurses aide at St. Boniface Hospital and then went on to work at Co-op of Implements in the Accounts Payable Department until her retirement. Cross-stitching, gardening and travelling (especially to Europe) were many of her pastimes. Gertrude was a mother of love, great courage and strength. She dedicated her life to her family. A special thanks to Dr. A. Fine and the St. Boniface Hospital Dialysis Unit, and the staff of E5 for their care. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, (Manitoba Branch), 200-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8. Cremation has taken place.
