(MARY) ELEANOR STEWART Mary Eleanor Stewart passed away on July 24, 2003 at East View Lodge, Neepawa, where she had resided for the past year. Eleanor was born on September 4, 1910 in Franklin, MB, the seventh of 11 children of James and Mary Stewart. She attended Brandon Normal School in 1930 to 31. She taught for three and one-half years in Cupar School Division near Roblin. After deciding that teaching was not her "cup of tea", she wrote the Civil Service exam in 1941 and moved to Ottawa to assume a position with the Civil Service Commission. In 1947 she was transferred to Winnipeg as a typist for Income Tax Department. In 1952 she assumed duties with the R.C.A.F., a position she kept until 1961 when she transferred to the Communications Unit. She retired in 1975. A longtime St. James resident, Eleanor moved "home" to Neepawa in 2001 and lived in the Yellowhead Manor until last year when she moved to East View Lodge. Eleanor was predeceased by her father in 1947; her mother in 1954; brothers, Russell in 1962, Bill in 1973, Len in 1968, Merv in 1982, Roy in 1979 and Carl in 1984; sisters, Viola in 1963, Evelyn in 1984, Jean in 2001 and Marion in 1989. Numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and nephews survive her. At her request, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. Her ashes are to be laid to rest at the foot of Violas grave at the Neepawa Cemetery.
