Andrea Soffia Stevenson, at the Pembina Place Personal Care Home on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 in her 92nd year. Andrea was born on October 10, 1911, the youngest of the eight children of Sigursbjorn and Hildur Sigurjonsson in Winnipeg. At age 18 she became a teacher; and when teaching in Swan River, MB, she met the love of her life, W.G.C. (Bud) Stevenson, and shared 63 years of marriage until his death in 1999. Left to cherish her memory are her son Allan (Phoenix, Arizona) daughter Carol (Don) Phillips (Florence, Oregon) grandchildren, Nancy, Michael, Susan, Jill, Cynthia and Brenda; 11 great-grandchildren and their families. Also left to mourn are her nieces, Kay Sigurjonsson (Toronto, ON, Margaret (Andy) Gemmill (BC), as well as many other family members in Canada and the U.S., and sister-in-law Agne Stevenson of Swan River, MB. She will also be missed by a large extended family of spiritual brothers and sisters whose lives Andrea and Bud touched over the years. Andrea was predeceased by her parents; husband Bud; son James (in infancy) brothers, Edvald, John, Sigtryggur and Andres and sisters, Laura, Sigga and Egertina. As one of Jehovahs Witnesses for over 50 years, Andrea shared her faith in Gods promise of a better world under His Kingdom. This hope, and that of the resurrection sustained her to the end. (John 5:28,29, Revelation 21:3,4). A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 9 at the Arlington Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses, 1060 Wolever Ave., with Mr. Kenneth Sallows officiating.
