ALPHONSINE (ELSIE) M. OLSON (nee McKay) January 24, 1934 - June 9, 2000. Formerly of St. Laurent, Manitoba. Peacefully, on Friday, June 9, 2000, surrounded by her beloved family, our Mom passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. She will be sadly missed by her seven children, Linda (doug) Schatkowsky, Harold (Monica) Olson, Patricia Olson (Gilles), Grant Richards (Jackie), Francis Richards, Eric Richards (Penny) and Alson Richards (Dorothy) five grandchildren, Clinton Olson (Janet), Clayton Olson, Daniel Olson, Daryl Olson and Kendall Richards; three sisters, Herveline Desjarlais, Irene Ozuk and Rosalie Chartrand; four brothers, Arthur McKay, Paul McKay, Albert (Donna) McKay and Emile (Darlene) McKay, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elsie was predeceased by her son Raymond Olson in 1952; parents Ambrosie McKay on June 23, 1980 and Amelie McKay on NOvember 1, 1980; sisters, Victoria, 1945, Elizabeth, 1946, Clemance, 1946, Mary Thiessen, 1983, Dora Premack, 1995 and brother Stanley McKay, 1997. Mom was a very loving and caring mother who not only raised her large family but cared for her sixty-plus foster children throughout the years. She was non judgemental and will be forever loved and remembered. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, June 13, at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Cremation will follow the prayers and a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, at 10:00 a.m. also at Cropo Funeral Chapel with the interment to follow in Brookside Cemetary. Honorary Pallbearers will be Albert McKay, Grant Richards, Eric Richards, Alson Richards, Clinton Olson and Clayton Olson. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the MICU at the Health Sciences Centre who granted her her every last wish and treated her with kindness and the utmost care. If so desired, donations may be made in Elsies memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044
