Watson is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Shirley; his children, Barbara (Gordon) Bowen, Laurie (Wayne) Pawlett, Elizabeth Stevenson and Richard (Bonnie) Stevenson; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Corey, Olivia, Jennifer, Caitlin and Brendan; one niece and two nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Annie and Richard; his brother John and sister-in-law Jean; and his first wife Charlotte Ames. Watson was born on February 27, 1926 in Cap St. Marthe, QC (now part of Cap de la Madeleine.) He attended school in Three Rivers, QC and was very active in High School sports. Watson joined the Royal Canadian Navel Reserves in June of 1942. He served on several ships and was discharged in April 1946 as Leading Seaman. His education continued in 1947 at Sir Williams College, Dawson College and McGill University. Watson worked as a salesman in Quebec for Northern Electric Co. Ltd., Slater Industries and Manitoba Bridges and Engineering Works as Eastern representative. He transferred to Manitoba Bridge (later Dominion Bridge) in 1974 and retired in June 1987 after 26 years with the company. He was very proud of his grandchildrens school and sports achievements. He enjoyed travelling, golf and spending time at the cottage working outdoors. In 2002 Watson and Shirley moved back to Winnipeg after living in Selkirk for 11 years. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Frank Martin and his caring staff at the Kildonan Medical Centre for their support over the years. We would also like to extend our gratitude to all of the staff on the Palliative Ward of the St. Boniface Hospital for the wonderful care Watson received during his short stay.
