Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT DOUGLAS MOSHER A bright light was extinguished in our home and hearts in the early hours of Sunday, August 10, 2003. Robert Douglas Mosher, beloved son, brother, uncle, father and friend died suddenly at home in Winnipeg Beach after a very long illness. Robert will be profoundly missed and forever loved by his mother Constance; son Robert Douglas; and siblings, Sara (Tony), Debra, Jaime (Karen), Lisabeth, Phillip (Audrey) and Amanda (Eldon). He leaves his loving nieces and nephews, Jimie, Cara, Daniel, Jessica, Lisa, Kenneth and Phillip. Robert also leaves a sister Anthea Taylor, and nephew and niece Gavin and Vanessa. Rob was predeceased by his father F. Lt. (Retired) Kenneth Berton Mosher on June 20, 1987; his brother-in-law Graham Taylor in January 1990; and grandparents, Winifred (Thomas) Pitts and Albert Walter Pitts of England and Berton Dyas Mosher and Luella Lovitt (McQuaid) Mosher of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Born in Exeter, ON, September 27, 1956 Robert was Ken and Connies fourth child. Dad was posted from Goose Bay, Labrador to Winnipeg in 1964. Rob attended Air Marshall Robert Leckie Elementary School in Goose Bay, and Ness Junior High and Sturgeon Creek High schools in Winnipeg. Rob worked in the family business, Tasty Minit Foods Ltd., and later enjoyed a career in car sales in Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. The silliest twit in the family, Robs greatest gift was his wacky sense of humour. He loved entertaining people. Through all the years of his illness and the tough times in his life and ours, Rob always managed to make us laugh. He was skilled at needlework and especially enjoyed creating his own designs. He loved listening to music that stirred his soul - sad, romantic ballads about loneliness and pain infused with love and hope... something of a metaphor for his own life. The entire Mosher family extends its enduring love and thanks to Christina Zastre, Roberts former wife, who loved and supported him for so many years and who brought up their son Rob of whom we are all so proud. Tina will always be our sister and friend. We also love and thank Roberts childhood friend and companion of many years Debby Sneve, for her unfaltering love and devotion to Robert and Mum. Love and thank you to Karen Bryngelson, RN for the wonderful care, love and friendship she has given Mum, Robert and Jaime. Our heartfelt thanks go to Roberts childhood friends and lifelong friends of the family for your continuing love. Thanks also to Lorraine and Marty Onefreychuk and Dora and John Carpenter of Winnipeg Beach. Thank you to the skilled and caring staff of St. Boniface Hospital where Robert had open heart surgery in 1987 and spent time in the past few years. Thanks, as well, to the Health Sciences Centre staff and to Dr. R. C. Patel and staff of Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli. We extend special thanks to the Gimli paramedics, East Interlake RCMP and Gilbart Funeral Home for their professionalism and compassion. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, In Memory of Robert Douglas Mosher. In accordance with Roberts wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Roberts life will take place at St. Bartholemews Anglican Church, Churchill Avenue, Winnipeg Beach at 11 a.m., Friday, August 22, with Rev. Ken Pawluk officiating. - Little seagull, fly to him and tell him that we truly love him. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
