Date of Passing: Aug 09, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHILDA DOROTEA BYSTROM Hilda Dorotea Bystrom passed into the presence of her Lord on Saturday, August 9, 2003 at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her sisters, Martha and Nan of Winnipeg, and Linnea of Vancouver. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ossian; and her children, Ray, Lynda, Dorothy, Marilyn, and Sharon; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Ann of Winnipeg; as well as many nieces and nephews. Hilda was a member of the Abbotsford Baptist Church where she formerly served as a deaconess. She practiced her gift of hospitality liberally. It was her great joy to welcome family and friends to her home for meals and coffee. Her expertise in baking and preparing delicious meals was known and enjoyed by many. In spite of her deteriorating health in recent years, she continued to prepare meals for visiting friends and family members. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were very dear to her. She loved to knit baby outfits for her many great-grandchildren. She would plan her knitting long in advance for children to have a knitted outfit or sweater for birthdays or Christmas. In May, Hilda broke her hip and required hospital care until the time of her passing. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Beytell and to nurses and staff of Worthington Pavilion for their care and compassion during Moms illness. Hilda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her, but we as a family are confident that she is now safe and well in the presence of Jesus. A memorial service will be held at Abbotsford Baptist Church, 33651 Busby St., on Wednesday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make donations to Abbotsford Baptist Church.
