KANDACE "KANDY" MAE KOVALIK It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kandace "Kandy" Mae Kovalik on Sunday, August 10, 2003. Kandace is survived by her mother Linda Kovalik; sister Kristina (Matthew) Wolfe; brother Kevin "Rockstar"; baba Sophie Lys and grandmother Mary Kovalik; father Ken; aunt Pat Lys (Bob Kuryk) uncles, Stephen "Godfather", Robert (Kelly), John Lys, and Gerry (Arlene, "Godmother") Kovalik; best friend Keli Schmidt; great aunts and uncles, cousins, a multitude of beautiful and loving friends, and regular Kelsey and Perkins patrons. Kandace was predeceased by her gigi Steve Lys "Foxy" and grandfather Alex Kovalik. Kandace made her first party entrance on January 1, 1981 (16 days early), just in time for a New Years party. She couldnt wait for life to begin and she lived life to the fullest for the years she was with us. For a 7 pound, 3 ounce baby, she had a voice that would be heard loud and clear for the next 22 years. Kandace attended Springfield Heights, Chief Peguis Jr. High, and Kildonan East School. Kandace was very proud of being the President of Kildonan East School in her 1998-1999 graduation year. Kandace accomplished being an Honour Student throughout her school years and received various special awards from the River East School Division. Her love for acting gave her the lead roles in school productions, plus a part in the commercial, "I Thought He Loved Me", which still airs on television today, regarding preventing teen pregnancies. She was involved in Improv and Vocal Jazz and was a talented hairdresser. She was chosen from school three times to attend Ottawa, twice to speak to Members of Parliament regarding teen issues and for an outstanding patrol. Most recently, she completed a bartending course. She was employed as a waitress and bartender at Kelseys Restaurant on Regent, which she loved. She was an avid rock concert goer and rocked at many concerts. Kandace had a beautiful smile, gorgeous, long blonde natural curly hair and a unique laugh that was contagious. She was a rock to lean on for her family and friends, and she gave the best hugs when you needed one! She lived every day (and most of the night), to the fullest and leaves a multitude of happy and hilarious memories of her antics. She was a ray of sunshine who will shine forever. Rest in peace, my beautiful Cinderella daughter. We will all miss you terribly. My love, always and forever, Mom.
