Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHILLIARD CAMERON MacBETH A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2003, at the Old Kildonan Presbyterian Church, Main Street and John Black Avenue in West Kildonan, for Mr. Hilliard C. MacBeth who died in Edmonton, AB, on June 28. Hilliard was born in Neepawa, MB, in 1915 and lived most of his younger life in Winnipeg where he met and married Elizabeth (Betty) Gray in 1940. He was the son of Alexander James MacBeth and Marcella Matthews and is a direct descendent of one of the original (1815 party) Lord Selkirk Settlers, Alexander J. MacBeth. Hilliard spent his working life with the Canadian Pacific Railway which took him and his family from Winnipeg to Brandon, Moose Jaw, Vancouver, Medicine Hat and finally Edmonton. He made many good friends along the way. Although physical trials limited his activities and travels, he did the most that he could for as long as he was able, and then some. His gentle manner, quiet wisdom, quick wit and stoicism were well recognized by family and friends. Hilliard was predeceased by his wife Betty in 1967 and his four brothers. He is survived by his loving children, Hilliard Robert (Nancy) of Edmonton, Tannis MacBeth of Vancouver and Jane (Bob) Marshall of Edmonton. He was the proud grandfather of Katherine, George and Andrew Marshall; and stepgrandfather of Fraser Betkowski, all of Edmonton. Interment will take place in the church cemetery following the service. "Have you been to old Kildonan Seen the Red, with gentle sweep, Guard the little rude Gods Acre Where the Selkirk settlers sleep?" John Mackay, D.D.
