Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED BARNETT Following a lengthy illness, Millie passed away quietly on August 13, 2003 at Calvary Place, aged 74. Millie was predeceased by her husband Dick in 1989, her son Michael in 1974, her father Harold in 1980, her mother Celia in 1985, and her brother Ward in 1992. She leaves to mourn her passing, her grandson Christopher, her brother Laurence (Betty), her sister Doreen (Cal) Roberts, and numerous nieces and nephews. Millie was born in Kipling, SK. She grew up and attended school in Portage la Prairie. After graduation she spent her working life as a dental assistant, first in Portage la Prairie, then at Deer Lodge Hospital, Winnipeg, where she worked for 30 years, retiring in 1984. At the same time, she was a dedicated homemaker with her husband Dick, for her son Michael, for her grandson Christopher and for a time, her parents. Socially, she enjoyed parties and get-togethers with family and friends and attended church at St. Chads Anglican. She was interested in crafts, particularly decoupage and furniture refinishing. By her wishes, cremation has taken place. Please, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or the Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow.
