EDWARD ERNEST GEISLER Peacefully on August 13, 2003, at the Lakeshore General Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family, Edward Ernest Geisler aged 80 years of Ashern, MB. To cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife Antoinette (Nettie) children, Duncan (Lise), Dennis, Shelley (Randy), Sandra (Ken) grandchildren, Roland, Paul, Marianne, Michelle, Kirsten, Elliot, Craig (Jennifer), Derek (Brandy), Brandyn and Brenna; two sisters, Olive (Andy) Anderson of Redding, CA, and Hertha Arnason of Ashern, MB; also many relatives and dear friends. Eddie was born on the family farm on June 28, 1923, where he resided until his passing. On November 24, 1945, he married Antoinette (Nettie Broustal) and together they raised four children on the family farm which they continued to operate for 58 years. Eddie was a well known and respected farmer in the community and was a mentor to many young farmers. He was instrumental in the formation of the Interlake Cattlemens Cooperative Association where he was President for a number of years. He served on the boards of the Ashern Veterinary Services and Mulvihill Community Pasture. One of his early projects was assisting with the logging and building of the Ashern Arena where his children and grandchildren spent many hours enjoying the fruits of his labour. The most important part of Eddies life, besides his family, was the love of his cattle and his land. A man that loved to work but also loved to joke, a sense of humour that was enjoyed by all who knew him. Pranks and laughter were always part of his day. Dad lived by this motto: "Think that day lost, whose low descending sun, views from thy hand, no worthy action done." Your work is done Dad, may you Rest In Peace. Viewing for friends and relatives will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Ashern, MB. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17 at the Ashern Centennial Hall with Pastor Nancy Walker officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Hall. Interment to follow at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his 10 grandchildren; Roland, Paul and Marianne Geisler, Craig and Derek Bjornson, Michelle, Kirsten and Elliot Geisler, Brandyn and Brenna Falk. Honorary Pallbearers are the Doctors, Nurses and Lakeshore General Hospital Staff, as well as the Homecare Workers and staff.
