Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE C. BOWMAN Born in Saskatoon, SK, November 17, 1914, passed away July 23, 2003 in Winnipeg. Predeceased by her mother in 1918, her stepmother in 1958, her father in 1959, her sister in 1958, and her brother in 1995. She is survived by her brother Mannie Bowman and sister-in-law Pearl Bowman, and many nieces and nephews. Irene dedicated her life to helping others as a school teacher, nurse RN, Public Health Nurse and with the C.N.I.B. Music was a big part of Irenes life. In 1937 Irene was one of 15 Canadian women who sang in the Empire Choir of 400 voices in Westminster Abby at the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth I. It was the first time women had been allowed to participate in the Choral work in the Abby. Cremation and arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, Winnipeg. A service of remembrance will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, Thursday, August 28 at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
